Uraeus with Solar Disk

Uraeus is a Latin term derived from the ancient Egyptian name laret, "The Risen One." A goddess in the form of a cobra with raised head, the uraeus spat flames at the enemies of the gods, of royalty, of Egypt, and of creation itself. Sometimes she was the Eye of Re as an appeased and benevolent protector. This particular uraeus probably adorned and protected a shrine.
