Catalogue Description: Walnut upholstered and covered in needlework (grosspoint and petitpoint). Queen Anne style. Needlework panels match with 67.197.1-.8 and 67.197.9 chairs. Although similar in style they are not necessarily from the same shop. Needlework on this chair depicts, on back, royal personage (probably a King to go with Queen on 67.197.9) being served food and presents; figures in exotic garb on seat and arms as well. In polychrome on blue ground. Outer sides and back of chair covered in blue silk damask. Chair has straight cresting; serpentine wings and vertically rolled arms. Seat bowed in front; row of brass studs encircle base. Four cabriole legs: front legs with shells projecting above knees into skirt; below with imbrication flanked by leaf carving. Legs rounded and tapering terminate in pad feet. Rear legs rounded but essentially square in section with pointed termanals. Condition: Worn in spots, especially on seat and arms but needlework is generally in good condition, and colors better preserved than other chairs.
