"CUR" at the beginning of an image file name means that the image was created by a curatorial staff member. These study images may be digital point-and-shoot photographs, when we don\'t yet have high-quality studio photography, or they may be scans of older negatives, slides, or photographic prints, providing historical documentation of the object.
Standing figure made of peat moss. Arms at sides extending down towards hips. Features fashioned out of moss: large ears project at sides; broad irregular nose; gaping open mouth. Features inserted into and added to surface: series of top and bottom row teeth; strings of glass beads and white seeds around neck; cord with suspended elements including fragments of animal bones (pig and opossum), pieces of shell, and Keena shell pendant; black woven yet tied across waist as loin cloth. Material has spongy yet brittle texture which gives form abstracted and abbreviated contours. Color: brown.
Condition: Fragile, expected due to the nature of the material.
