CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION Footed Dish: silver. Oval concave dish rests on a plain oval ogee foot. The dish is elaborately repoussed around a central oval void containing the initials in script: MLB. Surrounding this is an area of layered pointed petal forms. Followed by an area of broad volutes, most engraved with dense abstract pattern. The volutes rest on a diaper ground. At each end of the dish, volutes surround layered feathers with scrolling acanthus foliage above. At each long side, volutes surround areas of densely packed blossoms. The dish has a beaded rim broken on each long side by a c-shaped cartouche, containing abstract shell forms, rising above the rim, and terminating on each short side with small opposed c-scrolls.
