CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION Tea-Kettle and Stand with burner: Copper. brass, wood, cane, a. Stand: Comprises three scrolling brass legs, two of which are c-scrolls terminating in pad feet below and bifurcated scrolls above with compressed loops of copper band in interior of C. The third leg is identical to the others in the lower section but rises upward with a twisted stem and loops over the stand, bifurcating into two pendent hooks to hold kettle. Between the legs is a ring to hold burner above three facing c-scrolls with a finial at juncture. b. Tea-kettle: Copper body of squat. vase shape with gadrooned shoulder and an s-shaped brass spout. Brass arched handle terminates in scroll at front and rear of lid and is covered with woven cane in central section. Tinned interior. c. Lid: is brass with domed, spiral gadrooned shape and a turned wood finial on brass socket, tinned interior. d. Burner: Circular copper form with slightly domed brass cover and nozzle. CONDITION - Oxydation throughout. Cane missing on rear one-third of handle (b) and spout end slightly dented; dent on shoulder at 5:00 (spout= 12:00); missing elements indicated by holes at each end of caning on handle. Burner (d) missing hinged flame cover.
