CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION
Tray or Card Receiver: Silver-plate and partially gilt on white metal. Circular tray with dished rolled rim sits on four gilded spherical feet. Ground of tray is a pattern of interlocking punched hexagons, each with striated ground and central "X" pattern. At left is a gilded arched rectangular reserve of stippled background with engraved ornament comprising head and shoulders of a spaniel in profile with game bird in its mouth, clumps of grass in foreground and a branch with leaves above left. Attached to tray at right edge is a realistically modeled gilded riding crop. Reverse side of tray retains part of its original lacquer.
CONDITION - Good. Original lacquer on front; wear to silver-plate on raised areas of pattern. Some wear and scratches to silver-plate and to gilded surfaces, especially ball feet.
