CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION Bank (a) glazed earthenware with metal stopper (b). Bank is in shape of the Williamsburgh banking tower.The four sides are identical in form. One side of the dome has a slot for inserting coins. The fronts of the base on three of the four sides have raised mottoes. (1) THE WILLIAMSBURGH/SAVNGS BANK (2) TOWER OOF STRENGHT (3) CENTRAL OFFICE TOWER (located on the side with the coin slot). Fourth side has a cutout circle that leads to a gauged space on the base. This appears to be original and served some purpose. Base has a cork lining (partial) and metal stopper (b). CONDITION - Overall good condition, with sections of heavy and accumulated glazing, that give sections a slight blue tint. Loss of corking to edges.
