"CUR" at the beginning of an image file name means that the image was created by a curatorial staff member. These study images may be digital point-and-shoot photographs, when we don\'t yet have high-quality studio photography, or they may be scans of older negatives, slides, or photographic prints, providing historical documentation of the object.
Blown lightly tinted etched glass decanter with pewter mounts; flattened round body and elongated narrow spouted neck, covered with a shaped pewter hinged lid and thumb piece, attached to the applied plain glass 'S' shaped handle. The pewter cover is engraved with the initials 'TK', made up of a 'K' below a line topped with two triangles at each end to form a 'T' and is 'touch marked' on the underside with the initials "PAOB" or 'PROB" above the initials "MS" within foliate 'S' scrolls; the thumb piece is molded in the form of a palmette leaf motif. The glass body is etched all over with scrolling foliate decoration surrounding four etched circular medallions on each side of the body; each medallion depicts a building with three towers topped with flying flags. The glass raised folded foot is mounted with a pewter ring.
Condition: Good; some scratches to the glass body, the pewter mounts are visibly tarnished and dented, with remnants of old polish, the mounts are also loose.
