"CUR" at the beginning of an image file name means that the image was created by a curatorial staff member. These study images may be digital point-and-shoot photographs, when we don\'t yet have high-quality studio photography, or they may be scans of older negatives, slides, or photographic prints, providing historical documentation of the object.
Black terracotta vessel with flat base. Base extends out to the center of vessel and slopes inward until reaching thick rim that slightly flares outward. Incised decoration at upper portion of the body includes vertical bands with cross-hatched pattern. Four rows of grooves encircle neck of vessel. Lower half of body exhibits low relief vertical striations which may be vestige of its construction from vertical coils of clay. Surface overall is burnished on exterior and some areas exhibit what appear to be brush marks.
