"CUR" at the beginning of an image file name means that the image was created by a curatorial staff member. These study images may be digital point-and-shoot photographs, when we don\'t yet have high-quality studio photography, or they may be scans of older negatives, slides, or photographic prints, providing historical documentation of the object.
Presentation box for fish slice and fork set (1996.37.24-.25). Flat, oblong wooden box with slightly domed lid, covered with brown leather; lid was originally hinged to box with strip of leather (now torn) and is decorated with embossed outlines and garlands of foliate and flower forms at each short end; box originally had clasp at front center. Interior of box: bottom molded to fit serving pieces and lined with purple velvet; lid lined with purple satin and has two blue elastic bands across length.
Condition: Fair; exterior badly worn with scuffs and tears in leather; clasp lost; hinge completely torn such that box and lid are no longer joined.
