CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION Seed mouth; shallow belly that contracts downward; flat base; shallow circular foot. Includes flat and round cover. Undecorated surface. 6-character inscription on base: "Made during the Kangxi reign of the Great Qing". White glaze covers vessel's interior, base and interior of cover. Red glaze covers vessel's and cover's surface. Color provides the color for the red glaze in a reducing atmosphere. Thus glazing by sufflation (blown glaze) was used. Red spots are hidden in the glaze. Copper in the glaze on the cover's surface has a light green color. Daily used ware (seal box). Evidence of much use. Condition: Intact. "Ornamental"? Pattern on cover's surface. Old Accession Card: Small box for seal ink with cover, the box being circular with a very low foot and rounded sides, and the cover with rounded sides and an almost flat top. Porcelain with a minutely bubbled peach bloom glaze, a delicate pink suffused with lighter patches, several of which shade into a pale green. The inside and the base are glazed white, and on the base is a six-character Kangxi mark delicately written in a mannered style in underglaze blue. The cover is cracked and traces of the red seal ink still adhere to the edges of both box and cover. The potting and finish are excellent. It is similar in everything but color to 32.1169a-b.
