CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION
Upholstered and covered in needlework (gros and petit point); Queen Anne style. Needlework panels match with 67.197.1-.8 and 67.197.10 chairs. Although similar in style they are not necessarily from the same shop. Needlework on this chair depicts, on back, royal personage (probably Queen to go with King on 67.197.10) being served food and drink; gift bearers in exotic garb on seat and arms as well. In polychrome in blue ground. Outer sides and back of chair covered in blue silk damask. Chair has arched, serpentine cresting; serpentine wings, and horizontally rolled arms. Seat straight in front; row of brass studes encircle base of skirt. Four cabriole legs; front legs with knees shell-carved, flanked by scrolls, ending in pad feet. Rear legs the same minus shell carving.
CONDITION - Somewhat faded, and worn in spots but needlework is generally good. Seat of cushion has suffered numerous tears which have been repaired.
