CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION Buddha visiting a hermit. Relief fragment. Buddha standing and surrounded by attendants. Buddha, standing and haloed, stands at the right of the fragment. He wears a long robe covering both shoulders and falling in ridged folds across the body. To his right are three figures whom he faces; one, dressed in a monk's robe and bared at the right shoulder, offers him a stool. The turbaned figure of Vajrapani (?) can be seen at the top right. The fragment was probably part of a stupa decoration. Condition: Left side of base broken and incomplete. Chips all over. Split in stone running through figure of Buddha.
