Catalogue Description:
Side Chair ebonized wood, brass, and modern upholstery. Square seat with slightly domed sprung seat. Narrow seat rail clad horizontally above and below with C-shape brass molding. Round turned front legs raised on casters with narrow brass band at top below annular capital. Back stile with square profile rises to incised curved finial. Deeply tufted octagonal back, clad front and back with same brass molding, separated from stiles and horizontal back supports by annular buttons. Lower flat horizontal back support-clad front and back with brass molding. Crest composed of two flat horizontal members clad front and back with brass molding, pierced by six geometrized spindles with flattened conical tops and narrow brass bands at mid-point. Brass clad diagonal brace with cutouts extends from backside seat rail to finial atop back stile. Condition: Surface cleaned and polished by dealer before purchase. Evidence of old splits and repairs to proper left back stile.
