Catalogue Description:
Clock sits on rectangular malachite base with chamfered upper edge. Body of clock is rectangular in shape with a semi-circular hooded top enclosing the circular clock face, which projects slightly from surface of the clock and is surrounded in its upper section by a semi-circular wreath of bound silver laurel leaves and berries, supported on malachite columns with silver bases and silver laurel leaf capitals. Under the face of the clock is a silver grille of facing griffins surrounding a tall vase with swags above it and a panel of swags below, in the neoclassical style. A panel of malachite is visible behind the grille. The sides of the clock's body are silver and each side has a diamond shape filled with stylized leaf forms centered in rectangular panels. Two additional panels ornament the sides of the hood, each with stylized pendant bellflowers. The dial of the clock has roman numerals and, at lower right, a smaller dial for seconds. The back of the clock has hinged circular door behind dial with stylized leaf ornament at edge and small knob on right. Below this is a rectangular panel witih reverse arch at top conforming to door. There is a small stylized floral ornament at top, and the panel encloses a smaller conforming, beaded panel.
