Catalogue Description:
Candelabra, one of a pair, comprised of two parts, with upper section fitting into detachable base. Designed by Robert H. Ramp (Pratt Institute) and strongly influenced by contemporary Scandinavian design, each piece can rotate 360 degrees to allow endless variations. An example of the 'Contemporary Group' line, introduced in 1950 drawing on the designs of young artists from Pratt Institute and Rhode Island School of Design. (a) Upper section: three arms with attached 'U' shaped holders for tapers, arms shaped like a twisted, open, 'W.' tapering to a solid rounded base (b) base: abstracted foot shaped base with hole for upper section.
