Description |
Silver-plate with four straight even tines. The first half of the handle is essentially straight sided. After mid-point the sides flare out abruptly and then more gradually to create a long broad flat section that end with a gently curved crest. The molded decoration consists of: five thin arrows with heads pointed towards tines on first third of handle. Then a narrow band of dots above and below a stylized floral motif. Above this is a vertical branch of paired leaves that grows into a symmetrical classicizing motif of scrolling leaves, stylized flowers and centered anthemion designs against a stippled ground that fills the entire broad end of the handle. On the reverse is a band of seven florets that fit into the curved crest of the handle against a stippled ground and two opposed stylized floral motifs in the thin part of the handle; the balance of the reverse is undecorated. Dresden Pattern.
CONDITION - Very good. The plate is very bright. Minor scratches and minor plate loss along the back edges of outer tines. |
