Description Deep circular cup (a) flaring out from a small round foot to a round rim with a c-shaped handle attached. Decorated on rim with a thin orange line and on the handle with three short diagonal orange lines. Exterior of cup has polychrome decoration of a Chinese man with moustache in a flowing robe holding a whip; stylized clouds and birds in a group of two and in a group of three. Interior has polychrome decoration of 36 images including an owl on a branch, a knife, a rose, a scorpion, etc. At center a thin black line encircles a rooster, a flowerpot and a rabbit on hind legs. The background glaze is off-white and crazed. Round, shallow saucer (b) on a small foot with wide border and an indented circle at center. Decorated on an off-white, crazed ground with a thin orange line on rim and an orange band around inner border. At center a thin black line encircles a thin orange line, which encircles a black and yellow yin/yang symbol with a white dot in the black area and a white dot encircled with a black line in the yellow area. In the border polychrome decoration of mythological/astrological animals including a monkey, horse, dragon, rat, etc. CONDITION - Good. Two chips on rim of cup. Chip on handle. Chip on rim of saucer.
