David Bowie is Membership FAQ

Q: I’m a Brooklyn Museum Member. Do I need to reserve David Bowie is tickets in advance?
While reserving your ticket in advance isn’t required, we highly recommend that you do so, as it will help you plan your visit and guarantee you a particular time slot. Same-day tickets will be available at our Member Services Desk, but we can't guarantee availability for a specific time. All Members and their guests are invited to use the Special Tickets line, which offers expedited and priority entry to the exhibition.

Q: Online tickets are sold out, but I’m a Member. Are there additional tickets for Members?
If advance tickets are sold out online, they are sold out for both Members and the general public. We will have same-day tickets available at the Member Services Desk on a first-come, first-served basis. We can't guarantee entry at a particular time, but we have been able to accommodate all Members who walk in. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before you’d like to see the exhibition—we’ll do our best to get you into the exhibition within 30–60 minutes! You can also purchase tickets for guests when collecting your complimentary Member tickets.

Q: Do Members have to choose a time to visit David Bowie is?
Yes. Members need to select a date and time to visit the exhibition. You should check in at the Member Services Desk in the Lobby 30 minutes prior to the time on your ticket.

Q: But what is a Lightning Bolt ticket?
Lightning Bolt tickets are special $35 tickets that allow entry at any time on the date selected. Lightning Bolt ticket holders have access to the Special Tickets line when entering the exhibition. Lightning Bolt tickets are limited and are not a benefit of Membership. However, all Members and their guests also enjoy entry to the exhibition through the Special Tickets line.

Q: What happens when I arrive at the Museum?
Just check in at our Member Services Desk, where one of our membership hosts will be happy to assist you. Simply provide your Membership card and a photo ID. Our hosts will check you in, give you a bracelet for entry to the Special Tickets line, and direct you to the exhibition, located on the 5th floor. If you have tickets but don't have a current Membership, you'll be asked to renew in order to redeem your tickets.

Q: How many free tickets do Members receive?
The number of free Bowie tickets depends on the level of your Membership. Please see below for a list of standard admission benefits by level. This represents the total number of free David Bowie is tickets for a visit. These are not additional tickets on top of your regular Membership benefits:

Individual—1 complimentary ticket per visit
Dual—2 complimentary tickets per visit
Insider—2 complimentary tickets per visit
Trendsetter—4 complimentary tickets per visit
Groundbreaker—6 complimentary tickets per visit

Q: I’m eligible for free admission through the Museum Alliance Reciprocal Program (MARP). Does this include admission to David Bowie is?
Reciprocal privileges through MARP do not include complimentary Member tickets to David Bowie is. You can, however, check in at our Member Services Desk with your Membership cards (they must have a MARP sticker on them), where one of our membership hosts will give you a bracelet for entry to the Special Tickets line, which offers expedited and priority entry to the exhibition.

Q: I am interested in joining and reserving David Bowie is tickets at the same time. How do I do this?
It takes one full business day for your Membership account to become activated, which means you’ll be unable to reserve tickets during that time. If there is availability for the date and time that you would like to visit, you can purchase a membership and ticket bundle at our ticketing site. Select the date on the calendar, choose a time, and select “Get Tickets.” You will then see membership and ticket bundle purchase options appear under “Join or Renew Memberships.” If all advance tickets are sold out online, become a Member at our website and visit the Museum for same-day tickets at the Member Services Desk. Simply show your email confirmation receipt and a photo ID when checking in.

Q: I just joined, and I’m getting an invalid message when attempting to reserve David Bowie is tickets.
Please note that it takes one full business day for your Membership account to become activated, which is why you are receiving this message. You will be able to reserve tickets after one business day or if you visit the Museum for same-day tickets at the Member Services Desk. Simply show your email confirmation receipt and a photo ID when checking in.

Q: I booked tickets but am now unable to attend. Is it okay if I send a friend in my place?
Membership benefits are nontransferable, so if you are unable to attend, a friend or family member won't be able to use the tickets. If you can’t make it, please let us know, and we will release your tickets so that another Member is able to enjoy them.

Q: How many times can I visit David Bowie is?
As a Member, you’re welcome to visit the exhibition as many times as you’d like, for free!
