MEMBER TICKET POLICIES
Q: I'm a Brooklyn Museum Member. Are my tickets for ticketed exhibitions free?
Members are entitled to complimentary ticket(s) based on Membership level. Please see directly below for a ticket breakdown. Reserve your tickets through Showclix.
Q: How many free tickets do Members receive?
The number of free tickets depends on the level of your Membership. Please see below for a list of standard Membership admission benefits by level. This represents the total number of free tickets per visit. (Members may purchase additional full-price tickets for their guests, excluding Members-only hours and previews.) These are not additional tickets on top of your regular Membership benefits:
Individual: 1 complimentary ticket per visit
Dual: 2 complimentary tickets per visit
Insider: 2 complimentary tickets per visit
Trendsetter: 4 complimentary tickets per visit
Groundbreaker: 6 complimentary tickets per visit
Director's Circle: 6 complimentary tickets per visit
Q: Do I need to reserve my Member tickets in advance?
A separate ticket is required for each ticketed exhibition. Members are strongly encouraged to reserve tickets in advance; this will help you plan your visit and guarantee you a specific time slot. Note that advance tickets for this exhibition will only be available online, through Showclix. Links for each exhibition can be found at the top of this page. A limited number of same-day tickets for each exhibition will be available on-site each day, on a first-come, first-served basis; we cannot guarantee availability for Members.
Q: Will tickets be available in person?
A limited number of same-day tickets will be available on-site each day. Tickets are not available on-site to reserve or purchase for a date in the future. Same-day tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. We are not able to guarantee on-site ticket availability for Members, so we encourage reserving your tickets online in advance.
Q: Online tickets are sold out, but I’m a Member. Are there additional tickets for Members?
If advance tickets are sold out online, they are sold out for both Members and the general public. We will have a limited number of same-day tickets available at the Member Services Desk on a first-come, first-served basis, but we cannot guarantee availability.
Q: Do Members have to choose a time to visit ticketed exhibitions?
Yes. When reserving tickets, Members will be required to select a date and time to visit an exhibition. If you arrive early, feel free to visit the rest of the Museum while you wait for your entry time. Your ticket includes general admission.
Q: Are children required to have special exhibition tickets to enter?
Yes, everyone over the age of 3 must have a special exhibition ticket to enter an exhibition. This helps us ensure the exhibition does not exceed capacity. All Members at the Dual level and above are entitled to 4 complimentary child admission tickets per visit.
Q: What if my child does not have a ticket for the exhibition?
No one over the age of 3 will be permitted to enter an exhibition without a ticket. Members are strongly encouraged to reserve their tickets in advance.
Q: Do Corporate and University Members, reciprocal Members through the Museum Alliance Reciprocal Program (MARP), and staff from other cultural institutions receive free admission?
Corporate and University Members, reciprocal Members, and staff from other cultural institutions receive free Museum general admission, but access to ticketed exhibitions requires the purchase of a separate ticket. Reciprocal Members should purchase full-price tickets in advance online, available through Showclix. Discount timed tickets are available for purchase on-site for same-day entry for employees of institutions that belong to the Museums Council of the City of New York and current members of AAM or ICOM (must show staff I.D./membership card). Same-day tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and we cannot guarantee availability.
Q: I booked tickets but am now unable to attend. Is it okay if I send a friend in my place?
Membership benefits are nontransferable, so if you are unable to attend, a friend or family member won't be able to use your tickets. If you can’t make it, please let us know, and we'll release your tickets so that another Member is able to enjoy them.
Q: Can I change my ticket time after my reservation is made?
Tickets are nonrefundable, but can be exchanged one time, up to 72 hours prior to the date, and with no fees by emailing email@example.com with your name and newly desired date. Exchange is based on availability. Exchange may take up to 72 hours.
Q: How can I cancel my ticket reservation?
If you are unable to attend or use your reserved tickets, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 718.501.6326 to cancel your order.
Q: How many times can I visit ticketed exhibitions?
As a Member, you’re welcome to visit as many times as you’d like, for free!
Q: I’m interested in becoming a Member and reserving special exhibition tickets at the same time. How do I do this?
We can’t wait to welcome you as a Member! You can purchase a Membership and ticket bundle directly from the exhibition's ticketing site on Showclix, which will give you both a Membership and ticket reservation in one transaction. You can also become a Member by calling 718.501.6326 or joining online. Please note that by joining over the phone or online, your ticketing account will take one full business day to activate. This means you will need to wait one full business day to access online tickets. While you wait to access online tickets, you can take advantage of same-day tickets, available at the Member Services Desk, right away! Same-day tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please consider the Membership and ticket bundle mentioned above if you would like immediate access to online tickets.
Q: How do I log in to my account to reserve tickets?
Members can log in to their account on the ticketing site, Showclix, by using the email address associated with their Membership. Please note that, for the purposes of Member tickets and other discounts, there can only be one email address per Membership, so even Memberships with two cardholders will only have one login email. To update the email address associated with your Membership, please email email@example.com or call 718.501.6326 (Mondays–Fridays, 9 am–5 pm). Note that any changes to your login will take one full business day (Mondays–Fridays) to take effect.
Q: I’m getting an error message on the Showclix ticketing site. What should I do?
If you just joined or renewed after a lapse in your Membership, please note that it will take one full business day (Mondays–Fridays) for your ticketing account to become activated. You'll be able to reserve tickets after one business day, or to purchase same-day tickets at the Member Services Desk. Be sure to bring your Membership confirmation email and a photo I.D. with you. If you are experiencing another issue with your ticketing account, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 718.501.6326 (Mondays–Fridays, 9 am–5 pm).
AT THE MUSEUM
Q: Do I need to print my tickets? What happens when I arrive at the Museum?
Please print your tickets at home or be prepared to present your electronic tickets on your mobile device. We are not able to hold tickets for on-site pick-up. The time on your ticket is when you should be in line at the entrance to the exhibition. Your Membership must be current on the date of your visit in order to redeem your tickets. If your Membership expires before the date of your visit, you'll need to renew to redeem your tickets, or they will be cancelled. Q: What if I miss my time slot?
The time on your ticket is when you should be in line at the entrance to the exhibition. If you're late for your ticket time, entry will be permitted at the discretion of staff. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes before your ticketed entry time.
Q: Will the Museum be open additional days?
In addition to regular Museum hours, Members enjoy exclusive previews and viewing hours on select dates. Members can reserve complimentary tickets for these time slots through Showclix. Standard Member admission benefits apply, and additional tickets are not available to purchase. Check our Member Events listing for upcoming events and additional information.
