Marketing Manager—Engagement
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Brooklyn Museum’s dynamic Engagement Division, where you’ll work with people across digital, graphics, communications, retail and audience research, and throughout the Museum, supporting audience development and earned-revenue goals. The Marketing Manager plays a central role in developing and managing marketing efforts critical to building new audiences and connecting to the Museum’s local and global community.
The person in this position will oversee the planning and implementation of all digital, out-of-home (OOH), and in-person marketing activities to drive reach and revenue; introduce creative campaigns and find new ways to connect with audiences across digital channels; manage assets and coordinate campaigns across stakeholder groups; and mine the data to help us test, assess, and improve engagement with our audiences in Brooklyn and beyond.
This is a one-year temporary position.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or four years of progressive experience in digital and paid marketing as well as content management
- Proven track record for engaging and growing consumer interest through digital channels
- Extensive hands-on experience with search, social media, and email marketing, including paid digital media such as AdWords and sponsored Instagram and Facebook posts
- Proven managerial, project-management, and multitasking skills, and ability to work independently, proactively, collaboratively, and effectively under pressure with Museum staff and outside agencies
- Exceptional writing skills and experience in creating short, engaging, fresh copy and eye-catching imagery
- The experience and confidence to respond effectively to creative work/concepts
- Creative thinker and problem solver who can clearly articulate ideas, frame challenges, highlight opportunities, and offer solutions
- Experience with analytics tools for social-media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Google Analytics, etc.) preferred
- Familiarity with email, ticketing, social media, and digital-marketing platforms. Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and project-management tools such as Airtable preferred
- Not afraid to take risks and try new things, always testing and learning
- Enthusiasm for the work of the Brooklyn Museum and passion for the arts and nonprofit cultural world
Responsibilities:
- Leads marketing planning to support audience engagement and revenue goals, ensuring an integrated approach through onsite and digital channels
- Partners with internal stakeholders and teams as well as media agencies on the development and execution of advertising campaigns
- Oversees paid search and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy in collaboration with agency partners, and works with internal teams as needed to report on the performance of marketing campaigns
- Oversees the optimization of paid social media to drive reach and engagement, ensuring a coordinated approach with other business units, including the membership, sponsorship, retail, education and public program teams
- Collaborates with the Content team to develop marketing assets and to ensure the alignment of content output with channel, audience, and revenue goals
- Coordinates integrated digital and OOH paid marketing for Museum campaigns with the goals of acquisition and retention
- Coordinates with CRM program to strategically align digital communications across all product types (retail, membership, tickets), driving incremental audience engagement and revenue
- Acts as a user champion, collaborating with our Visitor Experience, Community Engagement, and Digital Product and Content teams to ensure clear user journeys through our on-site and digital ecosystem
- Stays informed on emerging trends and technologies, works with the Digital Product and Content team and other internal stakeholders to identify opportunities, engage new partners, and ensure smooth integrations.
