An Evening with Lorraine O'Grady

Thursday, July 28, 2022

7–8:30 pm

Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Auditorium, 3rd Floor

Artist Lorraine O'Grady introduces her first new performance persona since 1980, when her groundbreaking entrance as Mlle Bourgeoise Noire confronted the prevailing racial segregation of the mainstream New York art world. Enjoy the debut screening of Greetings and Theses, which documents O'Grady’s 2021 performance at the Brooklyn Museum as part of the retrospective Lorraine O'Grady: Both/And. The film is followed by a conversation between O'Grady; Danielle A. Jackson, curator at Artists Space; artist Sydney E. Vernon; Catherine Morris, Sackler Senior Curator, Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art; and Curatorial Assistant Jenée-Daria Strand.

Masks are required in the Auditorium and will be available upon arrival.

Tickets are $25. Member tickets are $20. Not a Member? Join today!
