This event is now sold out.
Deborah Kass leads a walkthrough of Andy Warhol: Revelation in this edition of Artist’s Eye, our series of intimate, in-gallery talks by contemporary artists that engage our special exhibitions with fresh perspectives. Kass focuses on the intersections between identity, art history, and pop culture—her beloved sculpture OY/YO welcomes visitors to the Museum—and often plays with well-known imagery made by twentieth-century male artists. In 1992, Kass began appropriating the work of Andy Warhol by recreating groupings of his famous celebrity paintings with images of her own heroes, such as Gertrude Stein and Barbra Streisand. In this tour, she explores religion within the context of Pop art and shares about her engagements with Warhol’s body of work.
