As the 1960s drew to a close, the United States appeared to be coming apart at the seams. The death toll in Vietnam was approaching fifty thousand. An ascendant counterculture was challenging nearly every aspect of American society—from work, family, and economic and political systems, to sex, the uses of science, and male-female relations. Join us as we celebrate the release of Clara Bingham’s book Witness to the Revolution with a reading, Q&A, and book signing. A unique oral history of that tumultuous time, Bingham’s newest book brings readers back to a moment when America seemed on the brink of a civil war at home, even as it continued to fight a long, futile war abroad.
