Thursday, February 9, 2017

6:30–8:30 pm

Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Auditorium, 3rd Floor

We are partnering with Brooklyn Community Foundation to host a critical conversation with local leaders working on the frontlines of the fight for immigrant rights. A panel of experts discuss the ongoing impact on Brooklynites of the recent executive order on immigration.

With Linda Sarsour, Arab American Association of New York; Murad Awawdeh, New York Immigration Coalition; Carl Lipscombe, Black Alliance for Just Immigration; Lisa Schreibersdorf, Brooklyn Defenders Services; and Nayim Islam, DRUM/Desis Rising Up and Moving. Moderated by Cecilia Clarke, President and CEO of Brooklyn Community Foundation. Opening remarks by Kavita Pawria-Sanchez, Assistant Commissioner at the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs. Panelists represent community-based organizations funded through the foundation's newly established Immigrant Rights Fund. Presented in collaboration with the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art.

Free and open to the public.
