First Saturday Lite: Still Here, Still Queer
Saturday, June 5, 2021
2–6 pm
Brooklyn Museum Plaza
Celebrate the resilience and joy of queer community at First Saturday Lite—a low-key, free outdoor afternoon amplifying culture and community in our borough. DJ Undocubougie is joined by Cumbiatón L.A.’s Sizzle Fantastic and Funky Caramelo to kick off Pride Month with music ranging from cumbia to reggaetón, and beloved Brooklyn-based collective Switch n’ Play transforms the plaza steps with a drag and burlesque showcase. Plus, enjoy art-making inspired by The Slipstream: Reflection, Resilience, and Resistance in the Art of Our Time. Throughout the day, shop and snack at the Brooklyn Pop-Up Market, which is spotlighting LGBTQI+ artists and vendors.
This outdoor event is free and open to the public. Please reserve tickets in advance to visit the galleries. A limited number of timed tickets will be available on-site on a first-come, first-served basis.
This event takes place outdoors. We’re following procedures and guidelines laid out by the CDC and local health officials, including practicing social distancing for all activities. Masks are required for all adults and children over the age of 2. Indoor restrooms will be available.
