Jazz in the Garden: Neil Clarke Trio Plus

Sunday, August 28, 2022

2–4 pm

Steinberg Family Sculpture Garden, 1st Floor

Swing by the Museum’s backyard Sculpture Garden for performances by some of the city’s best musicians, and enjoy a range of creative styles incorporating blues, jazz, and international sounds. Presented in partnership with Jazz Foundation of America.

In August, listen to beats by acclaimed percussionist Neil Clarke. Born and raised in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, Clarke has been involved with traditional African drumming and percussive arts for more than half a century. Best known for his many years playing in Randy Weston’s African Rhythms group, Clarke has also had long musical relationships with other important artists, including Harry Belafonte, Dianne Reeves, Miriam Makeba, and Onaje Allan Gumbs, while making significant contributions as a bandleader and educator. Clarke’s Trio Plus project draws on his vast experience while centering music from the Caribbean.

This program is free and open to the public.
