Dance Party: I Love Vinyl Presents “LP48”

June 20, 2013

7:00–10:00 p.m.

Martha A. and Robert S. Rubin Pavilion, 1st Floor

Celebrate summer and the 65th anniversary of the public release, in 1948, of the LP (long play) record at the Museum’s first Thursday night dance party. I Love Vinyl, one of Brooklyn’s most popular dance parties, mixes disco, house, soul, hip-hop, afrobeat, and more, strictly on vinyl. Featuring the DJs Ge-ology, Amir (Kon & Amir), The Twilite Tone (Common), OP!, Jon Oliver (East Village Radio), and Scribe spinning records through the Tower of Sound, a custom-built, hi-fidelity sound system, courtesy of Brooklyn's Sound Liberation Front. You can also peruse a selection of vinyl for your own collection at the event's Mini Record Fair, with vendors curated by I Love Vinyl, including Turntable Lab, Brooklyn Bowl's Collect-I-Bowl, and Natasha Diggs (Mobile Mondays) representing Brooklyn Flea.

Cash bar and small bites available. Pop-up Gallery Talks will be given throughout the evening. Tickets are free with Museum admission, which is a suggested donation, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Visitor Center the night of the event.

Promotional support generously provided by Wax Poetics, Dust & Grooves, Vnylst, and Vinylfy.
