Performance: Laura Ortman

Sunday, January 12, 2025

2–4 pm

Beaux-Arts Court, 3rd Floor

Drop by to hear violinist and composer Laura Ortman (White Mountain Apache, born United States, 1973) present Someday We’ll Be Together, a soundscape that reflects on ideas of home. Ortman’s self-portrait of the same title is featured in The Brooklyn Artists Exhibition. The soundscape incorporates recent field recordings from the borough, many taken between the Brooklyn Museum and the artist’s home on Flatbush Avenue. At the performance, the recordings are intertwined with live, improvised music featuring Apache violin, bells, whistles, voice, tambourine, and triangle.

Free with Museum admission.
