2016 Sackler Center First Awards

Thursday, June 2, 2016

6–9 pm

Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Auditorium, 3rd Floor

The Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum presents the Sackler Center First Awards. The First Awards honors women who are first in their fields and have broken barriers, changing the world forever.

This year, we honor Angela Y. Davis, Feminist Scholar Activist for Social Justice. Davis is renowned for her ongoing work to combat oppression in the United States and abroad. An iconic figure to this day, she remains a living witness to the historic struggles of the modern era and a vocal champion in the fight for economic, racial, and gender justice.
