These Perspectives: Fazal Sheikh and Teju Cole

Thursday, April 14, 2016

7 pm

Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Auditorium, 3rd Floor

Novelist, photographer, and art historian Teju Cole joins photographer Fazal Sheikh for a conversation about photography and memory, and the ways that images can capture not only a moment in time, but the complex and tumultuous history that informs that moment. History is reflected in the faces of young women in India or East African refugees, or in the scars left on the land and people by the 1947–48 conflict in Israel/Palestine, which are portrayed in Sheikh's recent work, The Erasure Trilogy. Sheikh's photographs are included in the exhibition This Place.

Free tickets (310) available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Admissions Desk starting at 6 p.m.

Part of Thursday Nights hosted by Squarespace.
