Salpe
Flourished before the 3rd century B.C.E., Lemnos, ancient Greece
There are half a dozen references to a “Salpe obstetrix” in Pliny the Elder’s Natural History (C.E. 77). She was apparently a physician and medical writer who favored the use of bodily fluids as curatives.
