Mademoiselle Fiocre has only been on view for a few months! The sculpture by Carpeaux makes an interesting comparison to the nearby painting of the dancer on stage. Fiocre was a popular subject for artists during her lifetime and Carpeaux was known for his portraits. She was the daughter of a tailor who rose to prominence through ballet and was famous for her talent, charm, and beauty.
