  • I love this Thomas Moran piece. It reminds me of Turner's seascapes. Was this piece influenced by Turner or did Moran study with him at one point?

    Yes this is a beautiful work! You have a great eye. Moran was influenced by Turner. He visited London and was impressed by Turner's works there.
    In fact, the studies for this paintings were most likely made in England, during a 1906 trip to Cornwall.
    Oh nice! Did he focus his works only on the sea or did he explore other subject matter as well?
    He produced a variety of landscapes, including many views of western American landscapes.
