Tomb Figure of a Court Lady

Object Label

In the tombs of the Tang nobility, figures of attendants stood in small side chambers, symbolically waiting to serve the occupant of the tomb. The Figure of a Court Lady represents an mid-Tang ideal of beauty. Her round face and delicate features, elegant coiffure and flowing gown reflect the fashions of the Tang Imperial court.
