  • February 5, 1935 The exhibition of color reproductions of old Russian Art from the collections of the Library of the Brooklyn Museum, opening Wednesday, February 6th, will include 12 plates of Russian ikons, "Reproductions from various Collections” published by Arthur Jaffes Inc., of New York City, and plates from "Antiquities of the Russian Empire," representing jewels, metal work, costume, etc. The Jaffe plates are as follows:

    "Saint Leontius of Rostow," 16th Century, Museum at Serviev, “Presentation of a Miracle,” 15th Century, Museum at Yaroslaw; "Saint Nicholas, Bishop of Myra," Novgorod School, 12th Century, Museum of Russian Art, Novgorod, "The Crucifixion," 15th Century, Museum at Vologda; “The Nativity,” Moscow School, 15th Century, Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow, “Transfiguration of Christ," 15th Century, Museum at Pakow, “The Old Testament Trinity,” 15th Century, from Trinity Cathedral of the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, “The Raising of Lazarus,” Novgorod School, 15th Century, Museum of Novgorod; "The Descent into Hell,” Northern School, 15th to 16th Century; “The Raising of Lazarus,” 15th Century, from the Cathedral at Tver; “The Last Judgment,” 16th to 17th Century, Historical Museum, Moscow, and "Scenes from the Life of St. George,” St. George before the Emperor, St. George Raising a Dead Man, Russian Museum at Leningrad.

    Lithographs by Joseph Pennell from the Collection of the Brooklyn Museum will be on display in the Print Gallery from February 5th through February 28th. Three groups are shown, the etchings of Greece made in 1913, those of the building of the Panama Canal made in 1912, and those of war work made in 1917. A few other lithographs of the wonder s of work made in Europe in 1905, 1911 and 1914 are also shown. The Greek etchings include: The Temple of Concord, The Facade of the Parthenons Storm Behind the Acropolis and seven other lithographs the panama lithographs include entrance to the Canal, Approaches to Gatun Lock, Cranes at Miraflores and 12 other lithographs; the war lithographs include The Embarkation Camp, Making War Locomotives, Forging Shells and 33 others. Sixty-six lithographs by Pennell are being shown.

  • October 5, 1935 Lithographs by Joseph Pennell from the Collection of the Brooklyn Museum will be on display in the outer print Gallery from October 4 to November 1. Among those shown are: Submarines in Dry Dock; The Iron Gate, Charleroi; The White and Black Hammers; Building Engines for the Allies; Building Destroyers, No. 2; Gun Pit, No. 1; Gun Pit, No. 2; Making a Turbine Engine; The Keel; Shell Factory, No.2; The Little Men of the Big Hammer; The Boat Builders; In the Land of Brobdingnag; The Armour Plate Bending Presses; The Ants; The Forges; The Biggest Lathe in the World; Making War Locomotives; Building Submarine Chasers; Building the Camp; The Embarkation Camp; The Classic Grove; Under the Shed; and Ready for Service Again.
