  • March 23, 1949 The Brooklyn Museum’s Third National Print Annual opened to the public today, (March 23) to be current through May twenty-second. One hundred and seventy-five prints were selected by a jury composed of Mrs. Adelyn D. Breeskin, Director, The Baltimore Museum of Art; Mr. W.G. Russell Allen, Collector, Boston, Massachusetts; Dr. Meyer Shapiro, Columbia University, New York City and Miss Una E. Johnson, Curator of Prints and Drawings, The Brooklyn Museum, (ex-Officio).

    The 175 prints comprising the exhibition include works by artists from all sections of the country. Eighteen purchase awards have been made. They are as follows:

    Installed in four galleries on the second floor, the Third National Print Annual reflects the impressive achievements and contemporary experiments being made in the various print media. After the present exhibition closes, a large selection of prints from this show will be circulated throughout the country by the American Federation of Arts.
