Artists represented include Zigi Ben-Haim, Pinchas Cohen-Gan, Teresa Gejer, Menashe Kadishman, Osvaldo Romberg, and Igael Tumarkin, as well as others who are less well known in the United States. The exhibition emphasizes the important relationship between artists’ drawings and their sculpture. The wide variety of media and styles is evidence of the personal and individual character of the art being produced in Israel today. 40 from Israel has been organized and selected by Reviva Regev, artist and teacher at Teachers Art College, Ramat Hasharon, in cooperation with Linda Konheim Kramer, Curator of Prints and Drawings at The Brooklyn Museum.

40 from Israel is one of a number of cultural events being presented in Brooklyn initiated by the Brooklyn Borough President, Howard Golden, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Israel’s founding. It has been made possible, in part, with generous support from Victor and Alice Franco, Little Bitty, Inc, and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Division of Cultural Relations, with transportation assistance provided by El Al Israel Airlines.
