Head of a Woman with a Chignon (Tête de Femme au chignon)

The specificity of the features on this tiny but compelling head indicates that Rodin may have been working after a particular model. A head with the same low forehead, deep eye sockets, and fleshy nose and lips appears near the top of The Gates of Hell, suggesting that the figure may have originated in that project.
