Inscribed in graphite: dated at lower right, "May 23rd. 1881" and color notations at lower center, "Stems of leaves + blossoms light grayish. pistils yell top + warm green gray / towards petals. Edge of leaves turned towards the light have a warm light + fine / stem. greenish brown with some reddish + cool lights leaves [illegible word] green blue / lights or purple."
