CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION
Green glazed steatite scarab seal bearing the name of Amenhotep II. The scarab is pierced from front to rear for suspension. Its head is small, and the eyes are indicated. The clypeus has a single notch. The prothorax is curved in the rear and is separated from the elytra by a single incised line. There is an indentation on each side at the shoulders and each wing case is marked with a "V". The wing cases are separated by a single incised line. The back of the scarab is worn. There are two forward curving lines on the back, near the rear, which are either cracks or intentional. The legs are given in relief.
Condition: There are traces of deep green glaze in the hieroglyphs, and in the hollows by the legs. The glaze on the rest of the scarab has turned grayish. The front of the right tibia and the base below it are chipped.
