"CUR" at the beginning of an image file name means that the image was created by a curatorial staff member. These study images may be digital point-and-shoot photographs, when we don\'t yet have high-quality studio photography, or they may be scans of older negatives, slides, or photographic prints, providing historical documentation of the object.
Bronze figure of a goddess wearing a lappet wig. The goddess is shown squatting and wearing an enveloping robe. She rests upon a four-legged platform which has a top edge in the form of a cavetto cornice. There is a hole in the top of her head which is almost certainly for the insertion of a representation of an ostrich feather.
Condition: Surface has brown/black patina. Features partially lost through pitting. Solid cast. Rough surface. Chip from one leg of platform due to modern drilling. Some lead salts appear along left flank of figure.
