Object Label

First published in 1744, this book by Giuseppe Zocchi presented the daily life and public celebrations of his native city in twenty-four engravings. This image of the Cathedral on a feast day underscores its role as the spiritual center of the city at a moment when Nardo’s altarpiece still occupied its place on a pier in the church.
