"CUR" at the beginning of an image file name means that the image was created by a curatorial staff member. These study images may be digital point-and-shoot photographs, when we don\'t yet have high-quality studio photography, or they may be scans of older negatives, slides, or photographic prints, providing historical documentation of the object.
Pair of gold earrings. Loop a single hollow gold wire tapering at one end. At other end hollow bull’s head with details in repousse and incised. Eyes inlaid. Small ring under mouth. Covering joining of loop with head is enlarged cone with swag decoration in imitation of granulated work. Two undecorated bands of wire around base of head.
Condition: The right eye on 05.456.1 remains and seems to be white glass with a green pupil. Possibly this is the substance used in 05.455. Loop slightly bent. Workmanship not very fine.
