CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION Figure of seated Guanyin (Sanskrit Avalokiteshvara) in the form known as White-Robed Guanyin or Water-Moon Guanyin, with hands held on lap in posture of meditation, a cape or veil draping over the top of the figure's head. The Bodhisattva wears heavy robes over his shoulders but has bare or nearly bare chest, with the top of the skirt gathered above the waistband and heavy jewelry consisting of earrings and a necklace. Seated cross-legged on a double lotus pedestal. The base plate of the object is damaged and partially void so it was possible to retrieve dedicatory objects from the interior. Those objects are TL2021.25.7 and TL2021.25.8, a passage of a sutra written on silk, and a pair of gilt bronze objects resembling pendant earrings.
