"CUR" at the beginning of an image file name means that the image was created by a curatorial staff member. These study images may be digital point-and-shoot photographs, when we don\'t yet have high-quality studio photography, or they may be scans of older negatives, slides, or photographic prints, providing historical documentation of the object.
Knife with steel blade and gilded bronze handle. Blade general rectangular shape, with a flare on the dull edge and a rounded end that comes to a point on the dull side. Straight, rectangular handle with squared end has identical decorations on both sides in Japanese-inspired style: single bamboo stalk with spray of leaves and a tiger (or dragon?) in tree, against gridded background.
Condition: Fair; much of the gilding is lost; blade is tarnished; spots of corrosion on blade.
