"CUR" at the beginning of an image file name means that the image was created by a curatorial staff member. These study images may be digital point-and-shoot photographs, when we don\'t yet have high-quality studio photography, or they may be scans of older negatives, slides, or photographic prints, providing historical documentation of the object.
Headdress of cowrie shells and blue and white beads sewn to a raffia-hide backing. The top is a cone-like configuration with three pendant tassels. There are two chin bands. There is a wide semi-circular shelf extending from the sides around the back.
Condition: very good. One pendant tassel broken off, a few missing cowries, and a hole in raffia at left side.
