Jar, 1000-1550. Ceramic, 5 3/4 x 8 3/8 x 8 1/4 in. (14.6 x 21.3 x 21 cm). Brooklyn Museum, Gift of Mrs. Minor C. Keith in memory of her husband, 31.1303. Creative Commons-BY (Photo: , CUR.31.1303_view01.jpg)
"CUR" at the beginning of an image file name means that the image was created by a curatorial staff member. These study images may be digital point-and-shoot photographs, when we don\'t yet have high-quality studio photography, or they may be scans of older negatives, slides, or photographic prints, providing historical documentation of the object.
Globular jar with a rounded base, squat form, narrow neck, and slightly flared rim. The neck is decorated with a modeled, appliqué animal head. The vessel is covered with a brownish-black slip. The ceramic style is Murillo Appliqué.
Condition: fair; the rim is chipped and there are thin cracks on the vessel surface. There is a white and red adhesive label with the number 186 written in black ink.
