Relief of Oarsmen and Dancers

Egyptian, Classical, Ancient Near Eastern Art

On View: 19th Dynasty to Roman Period, Martha A. and Robert S. Rubin Gallery, 3rd Floor

This relief was once part of a large-scale depiction of a major religious festival in which boats carrying divine images were towed across the Nile by other boats. It is displayed here as an example of one of the earlier styles of relief reflected in some of the tomb reliefs of Dynasties XXV and XXVI in this vitrine.
