CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION Face neck jar with a narrow base, rounded body, and a narrow neck decorated with a modeled and painted human face. The face has modeled ears, eyes, a nose with two small holes for nostrils, and mouth with a bulge in the cheek indicating that the man is chewing coca leaves. The figure has black lines on his chin representing facial hair and painted squares on his cheeks. He wears a headband with painted geometrical designs. Below the face, the body of the vessel is decorated with the figure's painted arms and hands and two double-headed serpents as well as a composite feline/snake supernatural being at the back. The colors of the vessel are beige, black, and grey on a red ground. There is a perforated nub on one upper arm. Condition: good; painted surface slightly abraded in places.
